Visualizing You, Me & The Farm Bill: A Hackathon

On December 3, Food+Tech Connect and Gojee are bringing together journalists, technologists, designers, policy makers, and food data specialists to develop tools and visualizations that will help the public better understand how the Farm Bill impacts our lives. The hackathon will take place as part of the International Open Data Hackathon.

Over the course of 12 hours, participants will work together to produce tools and graphics news media and organizations will be able to use to convey the complexities and relevance of the Farm Bill to the public.

Why:  The Farm Bill effects us all – influencing what we eat, how much it costs, and how our food is grown. Thus far, there is little in the way of visually interesting and informative media about the Farm Bill. Not only is the Bill complicated (and boring), but many news and advocacy groups do not have the technical ability to create something accurate and engaging.

All ideas MUST be added by December 2nd, before the day of the Hackathon. Please feel free to begin organizing groups and brainstorming ideas before the event.
