Calling all startups! We’re partnering with Rabobank, the world’s premier food and agribusiness bank, and SF New Tech, San Francisco’s largest and longest-running tech showcase event, to bring FoodBytes!, the preeminent event series dedicated to connecting investors and disruptive food and agribusiness companies, to Brooklyn on March 3.
FoodBytes! Brooklyn will include startup demos (more on that below), networking with food and agribusiness executives, opinion leaders and other industry influencers, special guest speakers, innovative food and beverage and more. Investors looking to finance the next bright idea in food will get the chance to meet new, innovative companies that are disrupting across the food chain at this half-day event.
“New York is a hotbed of innovation, creativity and sustainability when it comes to food and it is the financial center of the country, so this makes Brooklyn a perfect next step as we expand FoodBytes! nationally. We’re excited to see how FoodBytes! can create new opportunities for startups in new markets” says Manuel Gonzalez, Head Western Region, Rabobank North America Wholesale.
Ten game-changing food and agriculture startups will be chosen to pitch live demos on March 3. Learn more and apply to demo HERE by February 18.
Attendees at FoodBytes! Brooklyn will award their favorite demo the People’s Choice Award. The winning team and potential runners-up will also be invited to attend Rabobank’s premier invitation-only Client Appreciation Events in December 2016 in New York City, which attracts C-suite representation from over 300 of North America’s leading food, beverage and agribusiness companies.
Previous FoodBytes! events were held in in San Francisco in 2015. Here’s what a few of the participating startups had to say about their experiences:
“FoodBytes is an awesome gathering of passionate food innovators – inspiring, educational, and fun! It was an excellent opportunity to meet new food innovators and learn from their experiences. Back to the Roots was honored to be selected as the People’s Choice, and FoodBytes helped open the door for new opportunities,” says Nikhil Arora, co-founder, Back to the Roots.
“I never imagined myself being around a series of food executives and meeting the people I have. This forum has been fantastic for me as an opportunity to meet different leaders in this particular field,” says Pete Lubar, COO, MycoTechnology.
“It was great to receive validation for our products from a passionate group of food industry insiders that believe in the future of food. Every startup is looking for signs of momentum, and FoodBytes clearly demonstrated that food and interest in this industry is on the rise from investors and entrepreneurs alike,” says Shawn Patrick, CEO & Founder, Patrick’s Fine Sodas.
“We had amazing experiences with the San Francisco FoodBytes events. Unlike the traditional tech startup world, there isn’t a well developed ecosystem for nurturing early stage agtech businesses, so it was great finding ourselves in a whole room full of investors and founders specifically focused on food and agricultural. We’ve also enjoyed getting to know the Rabobank team, who have been both enthusiastic supporters and a great resource,” says Andrew Brentano, Founder & CEO, Tiny Farms.
