UPDATE: Since launching this survey, we’ve heard from 500+ of you that marketing, business planning and fundraising are your top challenges, and we’ve listened. On April 15, we’ll be serving up our first online course: Food Startup Branding 101.
Guided by brand strategists who have worked with companies like Stacy’s Pita Chips, Seamless and Applegate, this course will help you develop your branding strategy and kick ass on social media. This course is designed for food and food tech entrepreneurs. You can learn more and sign up HERE. And be sure to stay tuned for more course offerings coming soon.
Looking to launch your food career this year, but don’t know where to start? You’re not alone. There’s never been more interest in food, but we keep hearing that the industry can be a tough, overwhelming egg to crack.
From farming, artisanal food production and distribution to retail, restaurants and tech startups there are so many different options. It’s hard for people to narrow their search and figure out how their skills translate to food. Formal education is expensive, and many in the industry simply don’t have the bandwidth / are tired of having their “brain picked.”
Our mission is to accelerate food innovation, which means helping the best and brightest – like all of you – grow the industry. So we’re developing a series of classes to help you gain the skills you need to break into the food world. Our goal is to make expert-taught food business and career education accessible and affordable for all in 2014.
For the past month, we’ve been running a survey to help us understand what skills you need to achieve your goals. So far, our most popular requests have been business courses for food startups. We are starting to finalize our initial classes, so if there is a particular class you’d like to see please let us know by filling out this 2-minute survey (no really, we promise!). Based on the feedback we receive, we’ll be piloting a series of in-person and online courses beginning in February.
