Google+ Hangouts: Initial Impressions From Studiofeast’s Cooking Class Hangout

This past Sunday I got to join Mike Lee of Studiofeast for his first Google+ Hangout Cooking Class. Google+ Hangouts is a free video conferencing service that allows you  video chat with up to ten people in real-time.

My experience with Studiofeast got me thinking about the wide-ranging applications for Google+ and Hangouts in particular. I will definitely be exploring the feature over the coming weeks.

Here are some initial impressions of Hangouts:

• Service is still a bit buggy- bandwidth is definitely an issue that affects video quality and reliability for users without a business level ISP.
• Unbelievable opportunities for the democratization of video production for bloggers and news websites.
• Great for entrepreneurs, educators, and anyone looking to hold classes, workshops, or discussions.
• Able to curate much deeper, interactive social experiences.
