Scott Stringer Helps Launch NYC’s First Rooftop Greenhouse Science Laboratory At Manhattan School For Children

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer spoke at the launch of The Sun Works Center at the Manhattan School For Children on December 7, 2010. Stringer said:

“Let’s make this a model for what’s possible so that every neighborhood in New York can enjoy what’s possible, what our children are going to learn right here. Let’s transform New York and make this the leading city green and food supply sustainability.”

The Sun Works Center at the Manhattan School For Children is NYC’s first rooftop greenhouse science laboratory. The science laboratory will provide the school community with access to innovative science education on urban agriculture through the lens of food production using hydroponic growing systems, vertical farming systems, aquaculture, solar panels, a weather station, and smartboard system.

This is a project of The Manhattan School for Children & New York Sun Works, founder of the internationally renowned Science Barge.
