Here at IFPRI www.ifpri.orgg) I’ve been working hard on some data analysis for the effects of climate change on agriculture, and the critical outcomes of agricultural production: rates of malnutrition among children, kilo-calorie availability, and prices for key crops worldwide. Getting good data is CRITICAL to this work. Our reports are headed to the climate discussions for COP-16 this year in Cancun. The more reliable the data we have, the more our reports will have impact on negotiations and countries adopting mitigation efforts.

Whether it’s for local scale vegetable production or macro-economic sustainable development questions and scenario modeling, open, reliable, consistent, and frequently updated data is like water to crop yields – essential.”
